It was almost a year ago that Norton announced that they were building an all-new 650 Scrambler.

Now they've tweeted a teaser video that hints the Scrambler's official debut may be imminent.

The new machines (two variants are coming) will have a 650 parallel-twin.The motor is a product of Norton's work on the V4 1200 cc lump, and is,in a sense, the 1200 cut in half. It's expected to produce somewhere between 70 and 100 horsepower. One model will have an 18-inch spoked front wheel, while the more off-road variant will have a 19″ wheel, according to reportsfirst written in 2017.

If Norton don't unveil the Scrambler at EICMA in the beginning of November, then the next logical show would be theNEC in Birmingham,England in late November. That would make sense if its initial markets will be Asia and the UK.

I bring up Asia because Norton is partnering with Kinetic Group to build bikes in Pune,India for the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations ) market.Meanwhile,UK-sold 650 Scramblers would be built in England at Norton's factory.

The 650 Scrambler is expected to be just the opening salvo in Norton's plans to use the new parallel-twin in a slew of new models. One possible direction Norton could reportedly take with the twin is to supercharge it,bump the output up to 175hp,and build a sport bike around it.

As for the prospects of getting the Norton 650 Scrambler in the USA,that's a wait and see.As is the price, although back in 2017 Norton emphasized that they want to keep the cost reasonable, which in the UK means under £10-grand.They see a relatively low price as being a game-changer for their company.
