I'm thinking of getting a Tacoma, and I've been drooling over Hodaka's build thread. I searched and couldn't find a Tacoma picture thread, but it seems like there are plenty of people on here with some pretty sweet Toyotas. So, what do you think, anyone care to show a picture of your Tacoma?
I love my Tacomas, actually PreRunners, both from 2007, both Access Cabs. The white truckwasa TRD Sport (note use of the past tensewas) and the Impulse Red truck is a SR5, both have a V6 with automatics. I got the white truck in early 2009 with exactly 30,000 on the odo, it was totaled last June 23, with 142,639. I was in a freeway interchange mired in traffic doing less than 20mph and was rear-ended by someone doing ~50mph. I was shoved into the vehicle in front of me which in turn was driven into the vehicle in front of it. Driver in front of me was transported with multiple symptoms. The car that hit me actually hit me a second time after I was able to get on my brakes, all the airbags went off in that car, the lone occupant must have had something heavy on the passenger seat. Cars in front and behind me had to be towed, I actually took back streets and limped home ~6 miles so I could empty out my truck. I think it is a testament as to how well the Taco is built that it could be driven around the block, I also think it saved me from serious injury although any full size truck should have as well. It took a while to find another one, but the red truck was purchased Sept. 11 last year with 28,000 on the odo (odometer). It was owned by an elderly couple who kept it in garage and used it to go to box stores or a nursery, otherwise the drove their cars. For me it was like getting a new truck. And yes, it even snows in Houston, at least it did last December 8. EDIT added comment: I had planned to drive the white Taco to beyond 250K miles and only made it to 142K, the replacement red Taco now has 31K, it might now outlive me now that my kids no longer go to school in LA. When I'm not riding, I'm driving, my Taco.
My old Gen 2 '06 Access Cab 6 spd was a great truck. Bought new in '06 put 90K trouble free miles on it and sold it in '16 for $19K. I see it running around town all the time. She doesn't keep as clean as I did.
Here's my 2003: TRD Offroad with a 5 speed manual. It's due for a clutch and I'll probably replace the lower ball joints soon as preventive maintenance, but at only 225,000 miles, it's barely broken in.
My 2014, 4 cyl / auto Tacoma. Bought it at 39K miles, one owner, cleancarfaxincluding oil change at the dealer every 4K miles. "Convenience Package", which is one step up from a work truck, which is all I wanted. 2014 models got bluetooth integration with the iphone which is pretty cool. Tonneau cover added at the dealer when new (receipt in the glovebox), I'm guessing it's never been off or had anything put in the bed, no hitch so it's never towed, spotless undercarriage. Dealer had just put on new tires, did an alignment and brake pads and oil change. Drives great and the size feels perfect. The access cab is fine for the limited amount of time I have a third person (one teenager), the access back seat is roomier than I thought it would be, and the 6' bed was more important to me than a full back seat. At 47K miles now and no issues. Plan on keeping it a long time.

But life changed.. @nigelcornif you want serious Taco Porn - you should head over to Tacomaworld.com and check out some of the builds there.
Yes. Removed pillar tape, changed grille, wheels and tires, and added mudflaps. Just a few minor changes to set it apart from a bone stock truck.
I have a 07' Double Cab 4x4 and your truck without the Pillar tape and TRD wheels looks so sweet...Plus white is my favorite vehicle color Did you use a hair dryer or heat gun to remove the tape?
Texas heat sitting in my driveway. I just caught a corner and started peeling it back. Total time maybe 5 minutes combined both sides. I did it when the truck was one day old though so I'd imagine that contributed to being easy to remove.
I had a 96' 2wd, 4cyl, extended cab and at 397,xxx miles some !@#$% ran a stop light and T boned it while my wife was driving it I was the original owner and it had the original motor, I really loved that truck
My 2016 TRD Sport 4x4 with double cab, short bed, AT, and premium, towing and tech packages. About $ 41.5K out the door in November 2015.
Maybe you need to better learn of the PreRunner. The PreRunner is an actual variant of the Tacoma, as is also the Tacoma 4WD. If you look closer at the photos of both my Tacos, you will see the PreRunner logo / emblem. While a bit too simplistic, yes, the PreRunner is a lifted 2WD. More than just a lifted Tacoma, the PreRunner shares the 6 bolt hubs of the 4WD and other suspension components. The PreRunner has existed for all the 2nd Gen Tacos on and some of the original Tacos, too.
FWIW, don't know where@Hanndais from but not all parts of the country got PreRunners, or in the current generation, 2WD TRDOR trucks.
