Ducati has followed through on a well-liked concept bike, and just released the Hypermotard 950 RVE in Europe.

Take a look at the graphics on this machine, and keen-eyed Ducati fans will immediately recognize the bike’s heritage. In 2019, Ducati showed off a concept Hypermotard 950 at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este festival, with flashy paint and other custom touches. That’s basically the bike that we’re seeing here, with graffiti-style graphics; according to the press release, “A sophisticated painting process and application of the graphics guarantees a result comparable to that of an airbrushed bodywork.” Errrr, someone should remind the marketeers that chrome don’t get ya home, and while this bike may look great in person, it’s the go, not the show, that matters once you fire the engine up.

With that in mind, what sort of technology is the Hypermotard packing? It’s basically the same as the base model Hypermotard, with the same Marzocchi and Sachs suspension and chassis, same wheels, same liquid-cooled 937cc L-twin motor with 114 horsepower. Same 4.3-inch TFT screen, same dual monobloc Brembo brake calipers up front, same Bosch cornering ABS. The major mechanical difference is an up/down quickshifter, which was previously only available as standard on the Hypermotard SP model.

That means the RVE slots in between the base Hypermotard model and the high-end SP, which packs much more gadgetry—and a higher price tag. We don’t know North American pricing yet, but in Europe, the RVE costs only 750 Euros more than the base model (priced at 13,500 euros).
