Triumph continues to move production overseas, with its last major line leaving England.Reports from the UK indicate the Tiger 1200 and Speed Triple series are now going to be built in Triumph’s factory in Chonburi, Thailand.

The announcement came over the the weekend.According to British magMCN, “all volume production models will be built outside of the UK.” In other words, all Triumph’s mainstream models are going to be built overseas.Already, most of the retro-styled parallel twin machines have been overseas for some time, as well as some of the adventure line and sporty street models.Supposedly, the big-bore triples were the last lines being produced mainly in Britain.

There’ll still be machines built in Hinkley, supposedly.MCN says Triumph plans to build its TFC (Triumph Factory Custom) line in the UK facility, but with expected production around 4,500 machines a year, that meant a reduction in workforce(other high-end models may be produced in England in the future as well).Reports from the UK say around 50 Triumph employees have been laid off.

Instead of mass production, Triumph is expected to now focus on white-collar work in its UK operations.It’s now supposed to be hiring for R&D roles in England, to plan not only the made-in-Thailand line, but alsoits upcoming made-in-India machines, which should start breaking cover in coming months.These bikes are going to be lower-priced than the current Triumph lineup, and sold not just in India’s domestic market, but in developed markets in the western world as well.
