Want to do a fly-and-ride? In Italy? If you’ve ridden there before, or seen photos and heard stories from those who have, you know it’s a must-ride destination. And now, thanks to Yamaha’s YOU rental service going 100 percent online, it’s easier than ever.

What’s YOU?

Yamaha’s YOU service allows riders to rent machines for either short-term or long-term periods, and while Yamaha offers various rental services around the world (including various powersports rentals in the US). this particular updated service applies to Italy. Now, riders are able to gothe YOU Rent website, select a bike they wish to rent, and then see which participating dealership locations have that bike available. Not every dealer has every machine available at all times, so you might have to travel to a specific location if that’s the only place with the bike you want in stock.

However, take note that there’s a very wide range of machines available under this program, including some scooters we don’t see in North America (the three-wheeled TriCity 300 and TricCity 155, for example). You can also rent the Tenere 700 (standard model, or Rally Edition) and a variety of naked bikes, but no cruisers or sportbikes.

Pricing varies depending what bike you select and how long you need it (obviously), but also remember the exchange rate is constantly fluctuating and can change things overnight.

That can add uncertainty to the process, but on the plus side, Yamaha’s now taken the YOU rental arrangement 100 percent online—previously, the rental service required interfacing with dealerships as part of the process, which would not only add another hoop to jump through, but also potentially create issues with non-English speaking customers.

Now, this process looks super-easy, online start-to-finish. Although the Yamaha rental service no doubt comes with its own drawbacks (they always do), it could be a great way to explore The Boot if you’re low on time, but have some cash to burn through. Just be mindful ofnew offroading rules
