CFMoto is preparing to enter the sportbike arena. The Chinese manufacturer is teasing the new bike under the moniker “SR Vision Concept.” According to CFMoto’s Australian website, the company says:

“Styled by the company’s European styling team, the SR Vision Concept is recognisable with existing CFMOTO design language, but with added features such as the Brembo brakes, a single-sided swingarm, SC-Project exhaust, Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa rubber and winglets – which started life in the MotoGP paddock but are now making their way onto road-going motorcycles.”

That’s not much data, butMCnews.com.aumakes some assumptions about what the bike could be like. They suggest that the concept will debut as a production bike sometime in 2022. And, they opine that the machine will come with Brembo brakes, Öhlins suspension, a single-sided swingarm, winglets, and an SC Project exhaust.

Each of these assumptions could be correct if the teaser images represent the final production version of the machine. You can see the SC exhaust, what looks to be a Brembo logo on the front brake caliper, the single-sided swingarm, and the gold forks that could represent an Öhlins front end.

As for the powerplant, CFMoto only says that;

“More information will be available soon, including engine capacity and a likely release date for the production model.”

Engine details

MCnews.com.au goes on to suggest what it thinks the bike may have for an engine. Citing CFMoto’s ties to KTM and European design firm Kiska, they believe the production machine will have an engine derived from a current KTM lump. And they go on to say that the engine could be a 390 or 700 cc single, 890 cc parallel-twin, a modernized version of KTM’s earlier 990 cc V-Twin, or potentially CFMoto’s biggest 1301 cc V-Twin.

Ultimately, they say that the concept bike has a cable-operated clutch. For that reason, they do not believe the SR Vision will get a big V-twin engine. But they say it could be KTM’s 890 or a derivative of that powerplant.

We’ll provide more information as it emerges.
