We have another entry in the big-bore, high-horsepower Multistrada V4 lineup. The Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is here, offering just about accessory you can imagine—and probably a few that you couldn’t have imagined a half-decade ago, including radar-powered cruise control.

At its core, the newest Multi is powered by the 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine, pumping out and 170 hp and 92 lb-ft of torque. There’s an aluminum frame with steel subframe and two-sided alu swingarm. In front and rear, we have cast rims with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires. The front rim is a 19-inch hoop, and the rear is a 17-incher, as this bike is primarily aimed for the street.

In the suspension department, we get “Marzocchi Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution semi-active electronic suspension with Autoleveling, Minimum Preload and Easy Lift functions.” The rider can set the suspension to lower at low speeds, to make control easier. And what’s Easy Lift function? Apparentlythe bike is made to liftitselfoff the sidestand if the rider so desires. Buy all the souvenirs you want along your trip, no worries! Your bike’s smart suspension will automatically take care of the load for you! There’sa Joe Bar visual gagin there somewhere.

The braking system sees Brembo Stylema four-piston radial calipers paired with 330 mm discs up front for serious slow-you-down muscle, and that hardware is mated to a latest-generation Bosch-Brembo cornering ABS system.

The paint is specific to this model, and the 60 liters of storage capacity is integrated into the bike’s livery.

Of course Ducati included its radar-powered adaptive cruise control and blind spot warning system on this machine. Along with the leaning-sensitive ABS we also get IMU-governed traction control and hill assist on this model. Even the cornering lights, which self-aim into corners at night, are governed by the IMU. Many of these electronic systems are adjustable, with changes coordinated on the 6.5-inch TFT dash. That dash will actually convert to a map readout for navigation purposes, so riders don’t have to go out and purchase a separate nav unit. It’s a small touch, but welcome, along with Ducati’s mention of 60,000-km valve inspection intervals.

Such niceties as a centerstand, heated grips, heated rider and pillion seats, closable ductwork on the lower body panels, hands-free starting and tank cap opening, even a ventilated phone compartment (so your iPhone doesn’t cook itself) are all standard. And if that’s not enough, Ducati will sell you more luggage (such as a topcase) or carbon-fiber trim and other expensive bits to make the bike how you want it.

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Touring will carry a $28,395 price tag in the US. Better get busy saving!
