The party in Germany is canceled. BMW Motorrad Days has been called off for another year.

BMW Motorrad Days is the manufacturer’s in-house celebration of its bikes, typically held near the company’s factory in Munich. It’s one of the BMW Group’s biggest brand-centric parties; BMW says it has “a regular attendance of over 40,000 visitors from all over the world.” The company wants to keep that momentum going, but again, as the presser points out: “The current circumstances and the associated enormous planning uncertainties no longer allow this highly internationally oriented event to be planned as the necessary lead times involved are very long. This means that the BMW Motorrad Days cannot be carried out.” International travel is such a mess, that BMW reckons it’s best to just cancel this year’s event, as many of the out-of-country visitors just wouldn’t be able to make it.

No doubt some BMW fans are disappointed the company is pulling the plug so far ahead of the event, but the organizers point out that canceling now means visitors can change their own travel plans early. BMW obviously figures the event was going to either be banned by authorities or have low attendance, so it wasn’t worth the company’s trouble anyway.

This isn’t the end, though. BMW says Motorrad Days are back on for July, 2022, running in Berlin then. Expect product demos and launches, test rides, no doubt Chris Pfeiffer will be on hand for a stunt show, there’ll be beer tents—the usual. Unless, of course, there’s even more unexpected interference. That’s also part of “the usual” these days, it seems.
