Hello, ADVrider inmates and visitors and welcome to Photos of the Week. We’re starting with a celebration of fall colors, sent in by@Cleepa, who was riding his 2021 KTM 890 ADV-R a few days ago with his buddy Willy, who was also on a KTM 890, in southern Colorado. He says this about the ride: “Weather perfect, Sand Dunes a highlight on this 392 mile day. Fall colors fantastic.” We couldn’t agree more and we choose this shot as our Featured Photo for the simple fact that it’s a bright shining thing. See below for more from @Cleepa.

Idaho delights

Here are some shots from@Bomosefrom a ride down the Arco-Minidoka Road in Idaho, a northwestern U.S. state, taken a few months ago with a Canon TG 6 camera. Our contributor was riding a 2011 KTM 990.

Bear Trap Cave is a lava tube along the way.

The road got slick in areas.

Jeepers Peepers!

Gone to Oregon

Missouri dirt

Here are shots from@ScottFree, who says he has been kayaking the Jacks Fork River in Missouri for more than 20 years. In the photos below, taken a couple of weeks ago,he’s on a little dirt road on the left bank of the river that he says he found a long time ago and “immediately wanted to find it [again] and ride it.” It took a while, but in 2018 he did find a portion of it and rode it on his GS. “This year I went back on my [2018 Royal Enfield] Himalayan and rode the whole thing.” He started in the middle, in Eminence, and rode east to the overhanging cliff in the photo immediately below. Then down another road to the Current River (where I shot the selfie because you said “Submarines not necessary, but photos of you are absolutely necessary”).

Well, what we meant when we said photos of you are “absolutely necessary” was that we need more photos of you, doing what you do so well. We weren’t necessarily asking for selfies—but, that said, this is a good one, and a fine example of what an adventure rider’s selfie should look like. It’s got the guy, the bike, and the environment—three out of three for a perfect score. And a kayaker is almost as good as a submarine, by the way.

Then I went back to Eminence and headed west, to Alley Spring. Along the way I stopped for a conversation with a kayaker, who had seen my bike parked in front of the restaurant the previous evening. Small town, small world . . .

But, even better

What’s better than a submarine, a kayaker, and a perfect selfie? Why, an MFO, a Misidentified Flying Object, of course! Et, voila! That’s from@Veeblefetzer,谁是骑2017本田非洲双DCT few days ago when he paid a visit to the Winganon Space Capsule off US 169 north of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the middle of a trip from Maine to Northern California “which somehow included Mississippi.”

In the late ’50s a mixer truck full of concrete drove off the road into a ditch and rolled over. The salvage truck determined the mixer truck was too heavy to pull out of there unless they removed the mixing chamber, which by that time was full of solidified concrete and was useless anyway. For another half century it was just roadside trash until some wag painted it up to look like a Kennedy era space capsule.

Better daze

We’re going to finish up today with shots from@Peter640, who says he had a “much better day” for riding his 2014 BMW R1200 GS on the Strade/Colle Dell Assietta in the Italian Alps a little while ago. “What a great road and set of views, and no mist nor rain! Perfect, and a few bikes out and about up there!”

Thank you to @Peter640 and all our contributors for sending such wonderful images. We don’t have many, but what we have are good, we hope you will agree! If you’d like to see yourself in these pages, just click the link below and send your pictures. We’re looking forward to seeing them!
