Husqvarna’s just announced its 2023-model enduro series, and it seems there aren’t many serious changes to the lineup. In fact, mechanically speaking, it looks like we can expect much the same as last year. The only really notable change is a new cross-country model, the FE450.

Of course, that FE450 is also based on an existing model, the FC450 motocrosser, with some small mechanical updates to make it better-suited to cross-country racing. Husqvarna changed the rake, to make handling less frantic and allow for better straight-line stability. There’s also a new 18-inch rear wheel, with Dunlop Geomax AT81 tire. The fuel tank is larger, and like the rest of the FE series, the 450 uses BRAKTEC hydraulic braking and clutch components.

Note that this is a closed-course, competition-only model, unlike the rest of the FE enduro series. It is the first time this bike is offered in North America, although other markets have seen it offered. Also note that, at this point, KTM and GasGas, both under the same corporate umbrella as Husqvarna, do not offer an equivalent model in North America.

Elsewhere in the 2023 Husqvarna lineup, there are no real updates, outside the graphics. The two-stroke lineup (TE150, TE250 and TE300) gets a slight name change, with the “i” label dropped, since everyone now knows EFI is standard on those models. The four-stroke lineup now contains four models, with the FE450 addition to North America ( FE250, FE350, FE450 and FE501).

The lack of change is no surprise, as KTM and GasGas are both running basically the same bikes this year as last year. Presumably, an organization-wide overhaul will come in the near future, as global supply chains are rebuilt.
