The future is here – or, at the very least, it’s here at the doorstep. BMW Motorrad has partnered up with Lego Technic to unleash the creativity of their young designers, and this is the result: a life-sized BMW GS hover bike.

BMW Working on a Futuristic Hover Bike? // ADV Rider

Earlier, Lego had created a BMW GS model that could be transformed into a flying bike; BMW loved it so much they decided to create a life-size replica. The bike doesn’t actually fly, but who knows – maybe this will eventually become the next step for GS riders.

Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design at BMW, said “riding a bike is all about freedom, but the ultimate freedom is to go anywhere. I believe the GS Adventure is the right answer to almost every challenge. To rebuild an existing model into a futuristic model was so much fun. Our designers had a chance to be creative, and it was a big challenge to all who were involved. I’m really impressed how an idea can be created by Lego, and then become a valid suggestion of how we may ide motorcycles in the future!”, Buckan explained.

For now, the BMW hover bike is headed for a Lego expo in Denmark. Afterward, it’ll begin a tour of BMW Motorrad offices worldwide.

Whether they have any plans of actually trying to build a hover bike and whether this concept model may ever become a reality is uncertain, but BMW is clearly thinking ahead and coming up with some innovative concepts. Who knows, perhaps by 2050, we will all be hovering instead of riding?
