Plenty of riders are looking for that first adventure, a chance to break out of the day-to-day, but they aren’t sure where to start. Good news, if that’s you: The Cold Start, a sort of intro-to-adventure-riding program, is back with another event scheduled for Baja California. Running May 5-10, this is your chance to head to Mexico in an event where all the basic details are sorted out for you.

The Cold Start saw its genesis when co-founder Kyra Sacdalan saw a need to brush up on her own riding skills, and realized other riders were in the same space (see more about thathere). This event is focused on combining fun with riding clinics and after-hours enjoyment of local food and entertainment. This year, organizers say “Donni Reddington (of Skool of Moto) is back as our beloved dual-sport guide and riding instructor, while Dusty Wessels (of West38Moto) joins the group as our unmatched ADV guide and instructor.” The video above shows the sort of terrain you’ll be riding through, and what kind of fun you can expect!

The cost is rated on a sliding scale; pay extra, and you can sign up for things like added, focused adventure riding training and even deep-sea fishing trips, horse riding expeditions and other fun that Baja California has to offer. With that in mind, the best way to see what’s offered between the various packages and add-ons is to check outthe Cold Start website.Pricing starts at $1700 US, and that does not include the cost of transportation to Ensenada, where the event starts, or the cost of a motorcycle rental, personal travel insurance and other common expenses with events like this.

For updates, keep an eye on the event’s Facebook pagehere.在那里’s a schedule posted there as well. If you go, let us know how your adventure went! We’d love to hear a beginner rider’s perspective on the fun available on the trails in Mexico!
