Royal Enfield to Produce 5 New Bikes By 2023

It looks likeRoyal Enfieldis planning for the future. It has recently announced that it will produce five new bikes by 2023. Indian outletGaadiwaadisays that the brand has committed to spending 700 crore rupees (~$7.9M USD) for development of “new platforms and upcoming new products.”

New Machines

The machines will be produced for the Indian market as well as some international markets. The rumored machines include the following:

Royal Enfield Meteor 883 – Royal Enfield revealed a new concept machine at EICMA 2018. Called the KX, the concept bike used styling inspiration from the original 1140cc V-twin Meteor. The Meteor is reported will have a new water-cooled fuel injected 883 ccs V-twin engine that produces approximately 90 HP.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 – The current Himalayan uses a 411 cc, oil cooled engine that makes approximately 24 HP. In the real world, current owners have complained that 24 HP is not enough. According to Gaadiwaadi, there is a fair chance that Royal Enfield will produce a new Himalayan version using the 648 ccs parallel twin from the INT 650 and Continental GT 650 in a different state of tune.

Updated Machines
2020 Royal Enfield BS-VI Classic Series – The revised bike will feature an updated engine that meets the latest BS-VI emission requirements. Fuel injection replaces the current carburetor.
2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird – Once again, an upgraded fuel injection system will allow the engine to meet BS-VI emission requirements.
2020 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Bullet 500 – Once again, the two bikes will receive updates that will enable both 350 and 500 cc versions to meet BS-VI emission standards. The machines will also receive cosmetic upgrades that reportedly will not reduce the bikes’ retro appeal.
