Hello Inmates and welcome to POTW number 24 for the year 2021. What we have here is a 2012 Suzuki DL650 ridden by Foxyvstrom a few years ago, and it’s our Featured Photo because it does such a nice job of presenting the American motorcycle touring experience: long road, big rocks, wide open skies. “Once again on the road, this time touring the USA with a mate also on a V-Strom. We spent 2 months riding the Rockies and I also went on to Mexico, now that was fun. I am sure everyone knows where the photo was taken.”

Same guy, different place

Foxyvstrom is in Australia now (below), kicking up dust on his Suzuki on a run down the Oodnadatta Track in South Australia a few years ago. “A mate and I camped out for 2 nights and the silence was deafening.”

Australian forest

Here is@fergstromwith friends on the road to Belowra Valley in New South Wales: “a brace of 2007 DL1000 V-Stroms and a Triumph Tiger.” The photo was taken a few years ago.

Just another twisty road?

Here is Foxyvstrom in 2013 “giving the Suzuki the berries on the TT course” at the Isle of Mann. He and his wife took in the Classic races and “also spent a week in Europe.”

And back in India

Once again,@nakulmalik is riding his 2020 BMW R 1250 GS in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh in you-know-where, because we-just-said-it. Come with us now, enjoy the journey, and travel with nakulmalik for half a dozen images, all captured within the last few months.

Behind the red

Here is@alpina’sDR650 with a different view of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, from the south side. “A view you don’t see often.” Photo shot just two weeks ago with a Panasonic TS-25.

Classic views

Here are three BMW R100PD classics, according to@fergstrom, who says he shot them “somewhere in New South Wales” a few years ago.

A stunningly beautiful area

The five images below were taken on a GoPro 9 and an iPhone 11 Pro by Switzerdesigns, who with his friend Gil rode a 2016 Honda Africa Twin and a 2019 BMW R9T from Brooklyn, New York, “up the coast through Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont for eight days during the rainiest period of the summer” a few years ago.

. . . and despite the rain, the ride and scenery was just incredible. I wish I’d gotten more shots of Acadia which is the most stunningly beautiful area I’ve seen on the east coast. I was just too busy enjoying the ride to snap pics of it all . . .

Fire

It was just a few weeks ago that@Mike Muellerwas able to ride through country that is currently ablaze with forest fires. The map below shows the location of the fires, but if you’ve seen a TV newscast from the United States recently, you already know that the fires burning around the California-Nevada boundary are huge. Mike was riding his 2014 KTM 690 Enduro.

几周前我骑到塔霍湖通过Henness Pass, then navigated down through Pollock Pines and found a great service road through the forest through to the Grizzly Flat area. A week later the Caldor Fire started and now most all of the area has burned. The Caldor Fire is currently active at 133,000+ acres with the Dixie Fire just north of it at 750,000+ acres. The air quality means there’s no ADV riding in the Tahoe area near future.

Back in Utah

In the photo below, taken in 2012,@T-boneand a pal have their 1977 and 1981 Suzuki PE 250s parked at Moab, catching the evening sun.

Trip #1

This was@Tim1225’sfirst trip on his new 2019 Triump Tiger XCA, photo taken within the last month, at Bald River Falls, Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

Colorado BDR

A solo ride of the Colorado BDR is September 2019 gave@jerryboan opportunity to unsaddle from his 2012 Suzuki DRZ-400S and shoot the following four pictures. “This was early morning and it obviously snowed just before I began my ride over Hagerman Pass north from Leadville.

New Mexico scenery

Some of that yellow in the pic below is@Fletcherguitar’s2007 Suzuki DRZ-400S on the Continental Divide, just south of Chama in New Mezico, photographed within the last couple of weeks.

And here is Fletcherguitar on the bachelor loop just a couple of weeks ago with his DRZ, enjoying the night air and the lights of Creede, Colorado.

Out of the rut

@Pad Kitty Maoasks “How long does it actually take to get out of a rut?” That’s her 2015 BMW R1200 GSA on the New England BDR a few months ago.

For some people it takes years, for us, in the midst of summer on the NEBDR, it felt like an eternity.

Somewhere in the USA

POTW 24日为我们的最后一张照片@Squid22trying out his new 2021 BMW R1250 RT. Photo taken recently enough that the bike still has that new-BMW smell. Mmmm, can’t ever get enough of that!

Inmates, that’s all for now, but we’ll be back again next week with more pictures, so keep on sending them, and thanks to all who have submitted. Cheers!
