INNOVV brought its newest helmet cam, the H5, to this year’s AIMExpo. There are a lot of helmet cams out there, and INNOVV wanted to show its newest entry into this very crowded market. So we met with the company’s CEO, Rock Liu, who enthusiastically told us about the new helmet cam.

Rock told us the (4.3″ x 1.25″ x 2.2″/110 x 32 x 55 mm) H5 uses a Sony 4K sensor to provide stabilized high-resolution (4K at 30FPS with up to 20 megapixels) video in MP4 format. It also uses enhanced image stabilization that INNOVV says compensates for blur and rotation and eliminates unnecessary vibrations. INNOVV has also developed an Android and iOS-compatible app to view and share your video.

H5 Other features

The supplied 2,400 mAh battery pack supports up to a claimed five hours of video recording. And, if you need more recording time, an optional portable power interface lets you connect to your own portable battery pack or USB on your bike.

With that much recording time, you will need plenty of video storage, and the H5 supports and stores up to 512 GB of video. If you want to vlog your rides, it also comes with a helmet microphone using wind/noise reduction technology to provide clearer audio. One other interesting feature is its haptic feedback. It vibrates when you turn the camera on.

Specs

The H5 weighs in at a claimed 4.93 ounces (140 grams). That’s slightly less than comparable GoPro cams and somewhat more than Sena’s 10C Evo dedicated helmet cam. To keep it running in rainy weather, the H5 has an IP65 waterproof rating.

Pricing

The Innovv H5 has an MSRP of $268.

Test and review

Innovv has given us an H5 to test and review. So we’ll put it through its paces and let you know the results soon.
