Do you like sci-fi flicks? Have you ever seen a futuristicmotorcycle from a moviethat you would buy if you had the chance? Well if you have,Zero Motorcycleshas just built a machine that may make you wish for the future to arrive faster—the Zero SR-X concept bike. Let’s just say you’ll likely draw a crowd if you show up on one. Fast.

So how did Zero arrive at the SR-X? Well they once again teamed with Bill Webb of巨大的设计. You may have heard of HUGE Design before. They are the firm that Zero partnered with to develop the design forZero’s FXE which we testedin July of 2021. Although the FXE has an edgy design, the SR-X takes the edgy design ethos one step further. This bike looks like it was made to be ridden by Battlestar Galactica’s Cylons, or perhaps be featured in a remake of the movie TRON.

Futuristic meets streetfighter
Like the FXE, the front of the bike looks like it was cut from a solid piece of aluminum. At the rear, it shows off its trellis frame with a minimalistic and futuristic naked streetfighter of the future design. In the middle of the machine you can see the rear of the battery pack. But above that and under the faux fuel tank is a small machined piece of aluminum that somehow reminds me of the top of the head in a V-twin engine.

I can just imagine the two belts and cam pulleys spinning inside an internal combustion engine. And it’s streetfighter/naked bike look harken to internal combustion as well. As it stands, the SR-X somehow has combined the look of futuristic electric with internal combustion.
While the SR-X is a concept bike, it was built from a stock SR/S. So one has to wonder whether Zero has plans to give us a similar version for production. Zero’s FXE first started as a concept machine and fairly quickly turned into a production bike with only a few changes. Could the SR-X present a similar situation? It’s not clear. But if they do and you buy one, you may be one of the coolest kids on the block.
