Even with the global moto market in turmoil and the 2020 show season basically destroyed, we’re still getting glimpses of new bikes. Here’s a photo (below) with another look at BMW’s plan for its G310 GS model for 2021. with new LED lights and some paint changes.

Looks like the G310 series is getting an update. Photo: Motorrad Online

We saw this photo at German outletMotorrad Online, which supposedly pinched it from an Indian website, andtheysupposedly found it … well, wherever the Indian moto-press finds this stuff. Anyway, it shows the G310 GS and G310 R models. Both of those machines are made in India, thanks to BMW’s partnership with TVS, and it makes sense we’d see the first spy shots coming from that country.

The sales pamphlet doesn’t tell us much—the frame gets red paint, and it appears the machines have LED lighting. There are rumours of other changes to the series, including a new TFT gauge, revised exhaust, and other jiggery-pokery that will help the 310s meet India’s BS6 emissions standards. That, unfortunately, is the reality of the modern-day motorcycling industry—companies can’t sell a bike if it doesn’t meet emissions standards, so that’s priority Number One, before horsepower or anything else. With that in mind, don’t expect the 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine itself to see much of an overhaul.

If the G310 series is indeed getting an overhaul (andit certainly seems to be), we would have seen it at Intermot or maybe the EICMA show—but since those aren’t happening this year, we’ll probably see BMW host its own virtual launch at some point this fall. Expect these machines to be available in Europe and North America at some point in 2021.
