Some of you… of a certain age… might remember a legendary motojourno by the name of Super Hunky. Actually, his name was Rick Sieman, but Super Hunky was the name he often went by, and the namehis fans remember him by. He had a very interesting life, as his bio at that fan page will point out, including jobs ranging from time in the navy to sign-painting to seismic exploration to a long career in four-wheel and two-wheel journalism.

As his Facebook fan page says:

In 1968, Rick headed for California, with a 1965 Bultaco Metisse strapped on the back of his station wagon. A career in journalism followed. First Dirt Bike Magazine, then Modern Cycle, then back to Dirt Bike, then Off-Road, followed by Old Bike Journal and Off-road.com.

Obviously, with a career like that, Super Hunky had the skills to put a machine through its paces in the dirt, and the skills to entertain his readers with the tales for decades afterwards. That’s a pretty rare combination.

Sieman is retired now, and we’ve recently seen his daughter Cindy advertising his books and other memorabilia for sale via Facebook. He’s signing them before shipping them out, and the shipping prices seem pretty reasonable! See her description below:

What’s Super Hunky’s writing like?

If you, like me, weren’t really around for the Super Hunky heyday, here’s a sample of what to expect, uploaded to his Facebook page. Click on that FB link and it’ll take you through to his page, where you can read and order if you want. Of course, Super Hunky also had a column online for sometime as well, at DirtBikes.com—see previous entries in the Don’t Ask! serieshere.
