Every once in a while someonewho knows what to look forhappens on a special bike that nobody else would look at twice. That seems to be the case here!

YouTube’sMotoBobhas posted some spy shots of a bike parked at a gas pump. It’s no doubt thatTriumphhas a tiny-bike-shaped hole in their lineup, and this might be one of the bikes to fill that hole.Triumph and Bajaj announced their partnershipacouple of years agonow, but we haven’t seen much come out of that. Until, perhaps, now.

We give you MotoBob, who knew when he looked at this bike that it was something special. Despite the mud, grime, a bit of missing paint, and perhaps some remnants of duct tape, it scans as Triumph. The triangular badge on the engine, the tank pads and the side panel do give it away. The shape of the engine, however, is not familiar.

Those who know Triumphs will note that this little engine isn’t Triumph’s familiar twin. The top end and general shape of the motor isn’t quite Triumph. It’s Bajaj, most likely. And it’s a small liquid-cooled single. MotoBob says he figures it’s somewhere in the 350-500cc range, from the size and stance of the bike.

Speaking of stance, here’s Triumph’s opportunity to bring a smaller, lighter, beginner-friendly bike to market. The bike sports single-disc brakes front and back, but pair that with a rear monoshock and upside-down forks in front give us all a bit of hope that even if it’s a budget bike, the suspension will be a tick or two above price-point.

MotoBob has quite a good review and walk-around; it’s worth a peek.

Hopefully this test bike pulls through with minimal tweaks necessary, and also that Triumph sees fit to bring it to the global market. Tiny bikes are having a bit of a renaissance at the moment. So many manufacturers are bringing 300-500cc motorcycles to market. Perhaps fueled by the current pandemic emphasis on outdoor activities, they are selling like freaking hotcakes.
