KTM is teasing new SX machines, but its press release is pretty vague about what is new about them. Specifically, the Austrian manufacturer’s release says:

Never tried one of our KTM SXs? Look around any racetrack – hobby or Pro – to see the strength orange. Speaking of professional racing: we’ve won a title or two in the last decade.

Right now, we want your attention more than ever. Why? We’ve been working. Our objectives are the same. Our mission objective is the same. Our processes are the same. But our achievements have reached a new sphere of performance, of conception.

It’s time to show how riding, thinking, and living motocross has changed. And we have a very special story coming very soon to drop you all right into the heart of this amazing project. Motocross fans will not want to miss it

SX range of machines

Well then, they are updating their SX range of machines. But that’s about it for details on the motocross machines.

However, KTM also provides a slew of shadowed photos with a couple that offer concrete details. First up is a shot of the engine, and from the exhaust pipe, we see that, at least for the teased bikes, they are 2-stroke machines. There’s no word on planned displacements, so whether they will be a redo of existing engines or something completely new is unclear.

Next is this photo of the throttle side of the handlebar. Notice anything different from KTM’s current 2-stroke models? Is that a “happy button” just below the ignition kill switch? Is no more kick-starting necessary? That would be an excellent addition.

Unfortunately, that’s about all we currently know about the upcoming machines. But KTM will digitally reveal the new machines on May 10th, at 5:00 PM GMT (1:00 PM Eastern time).
