CFMoto continues to crank out new models and concepts—the latest is this NK C22, seen above. Take a close look—doesn’t that engine look familiar?

This naked bike uses a parallel twin that’s directly descended from the KTM LC8c engine, which first appeared in the Duke 790 and has now evolved into the entire 890 line, along with the Husqvarna 901. But, although this machine is made in China, this is not a shocking case of intellectual property theft. Instead, if you’ve been paying attention for a while, you already know that CFMoto is KTM’s Chinese partner, building parts and equipment for the Chinese market. As part of that deal, it seems CFMoto has gotten the rights to make its own licensed version of the LC4c engine.

What else do we know about this machine? Not a lot. Unlike some previous CFMoto concepts, this onedoesappear to be a practical machine aimed at production. And there’s more than a trendy-looking naked bike here. CFMoto is busy developing new interconnectivity technology (just likeHonda) under the name C-LINK. This consists of smart connections between vehicles and built-in technology on each bike which all results in safer, smarter riding. It’s just another entry into the Internet of Things, where the machines are built to take control, and stop us from making mistakes.

Now, if we’ve still got your attention and you aren’t off Googling “When doesSkynetbecome active,” it’s worth noting that CFMoto has a lot more to come in the next 12 months. The company plans to release 10 new models over that time period. If they’re all as radical as this naked bike, chances are CFMoto is going to become a lot more well-known in western markets in years to come.
