The GS Trophy returns for 2022, and that means we need a new bike that’s up to the task! To handle the extreme conditions that this year’s riders will face, BMW has put together the R1250 GS Trophy Competition, a special-edition machine that’s pre-farkled for enduro riding.

Enduro riding on a full-sized GS? Yep, BMW doesn’t take it easy on the competitors in this event, and even though they have used the 800-class twins in previous editions of the Trophy, they’re back to using the big-bore flat twins for this year’s event. Organizers say “This offers the original, superior power delivery, beefy torque and maximum traction for the sometimes very demanding off-road passages, which often require riding in low gear.”

股票的自行车一样的引擎,当然,but this version of the machine comes with aluminum engine guard, a headlight guard, cylinder head covers, and “a TFT display that is secured against damage in a fall and from falling rocks.” Uh, were organizers planning on running through rockslides?

There’s adjustable levers, enduro-style footpegs, Metzeler Karoo 4 tires, a rally seat, Sport windshield, and Akrapovic muffler. Of course, there’s also a unique paint job. BMW includes its 5-liter tank bag as well, allowing riders to bring their snacks and cell phones.

Although we’re sure the bikes involved with this year’s event will be sold off, nobody’s told us how to buy one. Maybe they’ll be repainted and sold in Europe?

Action in Albania

BMW says this year’s GS Trophy will take riders to a lesser-known ADV destination, but one that’s worth the trip:

Rugged mountains, vast valleys, wild rivers, dense forests and a fantastic coastline: BMW Motorrad will be bringing the International GS Trophy to Albania between 4 and 10 September 2022. The country, which is considered an insider tip for off-road touring, is incredibly rich in flora, fauna and culture. The best Enduro riders in the world can look forward to discovering this as yet quite unknown beauty on their GS bikes, in numerous special stages, and experience the #SpiritOfGS up close.

It sure looks like fun; see the teaser vid below, and find details on the US teamhere.
