The trailer for the latest and greatestOregon BDRjust dropped, giving us a sneak preview of what we can expect to see when the full route and accompanying feature film are released. Let’s take a look at the trailer and see what clues we can pick out about the route.

Contrary to our predictions, the route begins not in the lush forests that most of us associate with Oregon, but in the high desert. This indicates a starting point in the eastern part of the state. One rider mentionsBeatys Butte, an area known for its challenging roads. With a peak at 7,918 feet, this promises some significant elevation changes along the way.

Not to worry, there is plenty of forest along the route, including some of the best Oregon has to offer. One rider mentions Deschutes County, which encompasses the Bend and Sisters area. We see some shots of the East Lake Resort to the south of Bend. I spent several weeks exploring this area last summer, and I recognize the Three Sisters and Mount Washington in this area. Several National Forests converge here, and no matter what the actual route turns out to be, I can tell you it’s going to be a good one.

It’s possible that the route extends west of this area, but I see no signs of the lower altitudes of the Umpqua National Forest. There are also no shots of the Pacific Ocean, so the Oregon BDR may not extend all the way there. I’m just speculating at this point, though. BDR probably doesn’t want to give away the entire route in the trailer, saving it for the big reveal on February 4, 2023. Although one rider in the trailer says it’s “one of the tougher routes” as far as BDRs are concerned, another rider leaves me optimistic. “If you don’t have fun on this, you won’t have fun anywhere.”
