Teaching your kids, or your significant other, or someone else, to ride? Cardo has a new comm gadget on the market that might make it a lot easier—the new Packtalk Edgephones.

Taking a look at these new headphones, you should be able to instantly deduce what they are and how they work. The Edgephones consist of a speaker and microphone set that looks like a standard communication headset like you might find at any track side—except this headset has Cardo’s proprietary Air Mount, allowing users to attach any of the company’s Packtalk comm sets. This allows an Edgephones user to communicate to other Packtalk comms, whether they be installed on Edgephones headsets or on helmets.

At first, this might not sound like a huge deal, but if you think through the implications, you should be able to see a huge benefit to riding instructors. Whether it’s a parent talking their kid through the paces on a PW50 in the back yard or a spouse talking their significant other through an impromptu cone course, or an ADV instructor helping newbies attack a hillclimb, or… whatever. These are gadgets that are certainly not needed by everyone, but some riders will find them a very big help.

They come with passive noise reduction tech for the mic, filtering out unwanted din so everyone can tell what’s going on. The speakers are from JBL. and the headphones are IP54 weatherproof. Asking price is $149.95 in the US (and does not include your Packtalk unit).

Again, not something that everyone needs or wants, but for some, this could be a big help.
