Correct. Based on this video screenshot, I'm guessing the XT really just functions similarly to your phone for the inReach.... view messages and such.
Unless I am missing something I also thought that mapping and associated messaging that could be displayed from the Inreach mini to a cell phone via Garmin app would be similarly possible with the new XT ?
But if it works like the 660 and 590 mounts it literally takes a fraction of a second to take off and put in your pocket or topcase and about as much time to drop it back into the mount. Sure being secured would be nice but really not much of an issue. ..Tom
So does this mean that it will suck with "normal gloves" and that you will need to have the "special touch screen compatible" gloves that are hit or miss in their functionality? Something that I like about the old Garmin devices is that they work with any glove just as well if not better than they work with your finger. Something that caused me to give up on cell phone based mapping. Kept having to take a glove off to do anything quick or accurately.
You put the XT into the tote bag, and then it goes into the sock. Sheesh, do I have to explain everything?
You must be close to a shipping center. Got my tracking number today as well, but showing delivery on Monday. Shipping from Kansas to Louisiana.
The manual is online. Makes for interesting reading. Besides TPMS I think I'm going to miss the "more Data" view as well. Just the same I'm sure I will order as soon as it is available in Canada. ..Tom

我660年我最大的抱怨是佐薇om out, you lose street detail until at some point, unless you are on an interstate, there is no road at all. Obviously in urban areas it gets crowded but I want the choice based on the location. In its hubris, Garmin (and to be fair, TT and the map apps) think a computer tech in cubicle somewhere should make that decision for me. Unfortunately from any of the screen shots so far, that hasn’t changed on the XT. And not only that it looks like they removed the map scale all together. Sometimes I think I’m the only one who’s principal riding doesn’t involve carefully plotted routes and tracks. I make decisions as I go and need more detail to do so. However, if it’s an improvement over the 660 and I do like the InReach link, I may spring for one. Or, go back to paper.
i haven't updated the maps in my car gps because of this, seems like it might be from the map updates, maybe try loading an older map ?
I ordered mine also!Delivered to the US for pick up as they are not available in Canada for a few more months!
How would you use the Inreach mini? What would be the benefit? Never used one and was wondering. I have a Spot device. Which is better?
