So, ages ago, Jr expressed interest in a sidecar. He's been on every motorcycle buying trip I've taken and never once complained no matter how far or long the ride was.
I've attempted putting him on the back of various bikes and that was always met with overdramatic "I'm going to fall off and die!!!!" I get it, nothing behind but impending doom would erk me out too if I were 9.
So, like all purchases it seems, it happened when I was looking but not really looking for a Ural. Found one on Craigslist in Oregon on consignment at Raceway Ural. Called and made the deal. Bike is a 2015 Patrol with 24K on it and in pretty good shape. Had it shipped here back in November and it was even better in person than it looked in pictures.
Put a touch over 3000 kilometers on it since, the only limiting factor being time.
Anyways, its a blast. Jr loves going for rides in it and I like that I'm not completely ducking my responsibilities when we head out for a ride. Or so I tell myself.
Here it is with Jr, aka Nolan

Apparently, the sidecar has melatonin in it

Those last two were from our ride this Sunday down through PA and the Allegheny National Forest. Did 170 miles and he loved it!
Anyways, that's our Ural. Looking forward to more adventures on it as time permits

    What's the thinking here?
A helmet in a sidecar is mostly about keeping the law and probably the wife happy?
Especially if a seatbelt is worn?
    Not trying to be smart.

Yes,@brstar, you must know by now that obscure posts by me always connect some dot with another dot from either within the thread or sometimes between two threads. Giving the boy a Nolan helmet and not a HJC seems like the funnest way to go!

Nolan is my favorite lid as well.

We are required to wear helmets where we live. Even when we went to a state that doesn't, we both just keep them on. Maybe once we'll let the wind blow through our gorgeous hair

Congrats on the new rig! You are riding in my neck of the woods. My wife and I love riding through the Allegheny National Forest. We don't live that far North in PA, but we spend a fair amount of time in that area. Beautiful area. We have considered buying the permit to use the trails there.

Yeah, it is great riding there! The one time I took my 73 FLH through they had a detour of my normal loop. I want to say instead of taking 6E I took 66W which had an AMAZING elevation change that swept up and out and you could look down and see the valley below. It just put me so I turned right onto 6E in Kane instead of left like last time with no detour. I liked the detour loop better.
If I ever have a spare day, I'm going to go much further south in PA
