Best helmet speakers for sound quality

I have a Sena 10.It's fine for intercoms,phone calls and all that,but the sound quality for music is lousy.Very high treble,no mids or lows and poor surround sounding.Any suggestions as to what the best kit is for music?Intercom and all is nice but not super important to me.Mainly after reliable Bluetooth and good sound quality.

I switched mine to "Torx" brand off Amazon.They're about 90 bucks,but are much better.Better bass and fuller sound quality.

If you're good at soldering very small wires then you have lots of choices as you can grab some from any good headphone set and integrate them into your current wiring harness.

The only 'after market' ones I've read about is the Tork XPro however I never tried them after reading some reports that they were only marginally better,if at all,than the Cardo Scala or Sena OEM ones.I've gone through several sets of speakers in my Cardo systems over the years mainly due to wires eventually getting pinched over time ( I ride almost everyday) and one speaker not working.

I just received my latest speakers from Cardo and this time went for the 40mm over the 32mm and there is a difference.The problem I found most frequently was that the after market ones you can get didn't come with a right angle jack to go into the base module on the helmet.

I'd love to throw speakers from a pair of akg 702 in there but rewiring it seems like too much trouble compared to something off the shelf.

Other than torx any other suggestions?Are torx on par with good headphones,or still just a small step up from Sena?

Changing the EQ on the phone to small speakers can remove the screeching highs.The helmet speakers can never match earbud sound quality though.

I gave up trying to get good music in a helmet at speed on a bike with in helmet speakers of any kind.

Like you,intercom,GPS commands,etc worked fine,but music was bad,with all types of in helmet speakers.

Years ago,I had a custom fitted (molded in ear) set made for me at a rally.

Pro:
They sounded awesome for music,blocked out a lot of road and wind noise.By far,the best sound quality ever,blows away any helmet speaker solution....

Cons:
Putting them in my ears is a hassle.
Taking them out is a hassle.
Even though they are custom molded to my ears they are uncomfortable.
They are on wires that plug into your audio source,in my case a SENA helmet mounted bluetooth headset designed for earphone output.
They block enough road sound that a police cruiser may sneak up on you,or an airplane...

Conclusion:
Don't bother listening to music while riding.

I 2nd the idea of sacrificing a pair of headphones.

I have music playing nearly 100 % of the time that I'm riding...

Similar position to you - had a Sena SMH10 for years and suffered through poor music quality and volume.I tried some S Plugs which are spendy.Found they had lots of volume,horrible sound quality and were uncomfortable in one of my ears.The old 10 is at the end of its life,so just ordered a new Sena 20S and a set of XSound 3helmet speakers from here.Saw some good 新利体育iosreviews so,thought I would try them.They are on their way now and hopefully,the snow is gone by the time I get home in a couple of weeks and I can try them out.I'll let you know what I think.

RexBuck: I looked at the XSound3 speakers too but passed on them due to price,I'll be interested in reading your thoughts on them when they arrive.I see they have the right angle jack which is a plus.

I've just been using the Cardo 40mm speakers for a few days now and there is improvement on the 32's that come with the different Cardo packages,plus the 40's were on sale at FortNine.ca for $38 Cdn no PST.

I tried several speakers in my helmet with my Cardo and finally gave up.They would have to be insanely loud inside my ADV style helmet to work worth a damn.

I finally went with sound isolating ear buds.I need ear plugs anyway with how loud my helmet is.Hard to beat excellent sound and ear plugs combined for like $7.

If you really must get something spendy to feel better about things,then maybe get the $30 Plugfones instead $7 JVC Gummy.But the cheap ones still work 1000x better than speakers.

I'm using Westone CR10s with my Sena headset.They aren't cheap but the best for noise isolation and sound.I got them through a local hearing aid outfit that did a custom mold.I had to remove the Sena speakers in my Nolan 104 so they had room.I figured that whatever I do I still have to have ear protection and this is the best solution for me.I get great sound out of them.

I believe until a few years ago,Sena's came with terrible speakers,and sold an upgraded speaker as an aftermarket accessory.A few years ago,I thought I read this better speaker became standard.I think I have the better one,which still isn't great.But learning that helped me understand the older reports of shockingly bad audio quality.Not sure how I came under this impression,so maybe someone can confirm that I'm not making stuff up.

I'm a very happy Torx speaker user although I can't really speak to the sound quality as I always wear earplugs.I've got an MP3 player with a beefy amp and have tuned the EQ to work with the plugs.I think it's a reasonable compromise to lose some sound quality in exchange for not going deaf from wind noise.

Anyone have any experience with Soundwrap by Syphon?

I have the Sena SMH10 + torx ...soldered,etc.It is the least shitty option.There is no really good "off the shelf" solution,which is bullshit.I think I'm going to move to custom earplug / earphone deal.If you take into account the time and PITA to solder and install the TORX then the $200+ tag on entry level custom plugs isn't too bad ...

Looking forward to a review.Anyone tried adding Fiio or similar small amp?Need to still make the purchase but from all 新利体育iosreviews I read,it seems that neither Cardo or Sena has a comparable solution even with upgraded speakers to a average pair of inears?
