I'm trying to figure out a way to carry a DSLR camera on my bike that isn't too bulky and without using the tank bag. I know Givi has a great inner camera bag, but that takes up all the space in a tank bag and I need it to take other things.

I also don't want to mount a box to the bike, although this is probably the safest way to carry it.

I currently have a Tamrac Rally 56 hip pack that is great when walking around, but there really doesn't seem to be a very safe location to strap it down to the pillion seat. This is what I have:https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/764934-reg/tamrac_345601_rally_56_photo_hip.html

Here's what I have in mind:

Ideally, I'd like a waterproof bag that can carry a DSLR with the lens attached, space for camera accessories, provides quick access to the camera (top loading?), and that can be safely strapped down to the rear seat. Bonus points for something that doesn't scream STEAL ME whenever I step away from the bike. Extra bonus points for something that can be detached quickly and taken with me.

Dopes anyone have a setup like this?

I own a bag from a company called Able Archer that might fit your purpose quite well. I do not use it to carry cameras, lenses, and equipment but it is my understanding it is used by many professional photographers including people in "the field." It is highly water resistant- although not waterproof per se. It also has a zipper along the top for quick access. The pouches you can buy and attach to the sides can be used to hold lenses. No connection other then a happy owner of their gear. Oh and it looks really cool in my opinion....

    Thanks, everyone. Much appreciated.

The reason I don't want the camera on me (or a backpack) is that if I go down, that camera is breaking whatever bone it hits. I prefer to have it (and everything else) strapped to the bike.

I'll take a look at those able archer products. Thanks!

Put it in a pelican case with pick and pluck foam. You can always install rings on the case in order to tie it down and get it on/off quickly.

My experience is a DSLR on the bike is no good. Backpack is only solution. My Nikon D7100 was stored within a camera bag, and that bag within thishttps://www.kickstarter.com/projects/384507327/pro-rybag-45l-100-waterproof-50m-164fton the back seat. Basically an air bag. I still got a write error, had to re-install the memory cars. A friend had his expensive Canon telelens in a top case, it loosened an internal screw which blocked it.

I've had great success with theKTM干袋在我690公爵的乘客座位上。 我也用了camera bag insertwith my SW-Motech Legend bags on my Desert Sled on a 3 day trip with no issues, I had 3 lenses with me for that trip. If I'm going to be in some nasty terrain where I'm expecting to go down I'll typically keep my phone with me and a Gopro on the helmet. Was looking in to the力矩镜片为了帮助您从电话相机中获得一些伸手可及。

The best solution I've found so far is the KTM Dry bag(or similar) on a seat or add some sort of closed cell foam (cut down yoga mat) on the bottom. Tank or seat mount is the only place I'd keep a camera on a bike that is seeing any dirt/gravel.

Long story short, Kriega or KTM dry bag with some sort of padding sounds like it is the right idea for you and myself.

Similarly to your method, I use the SW Motech "City" tankbag, secured with their tank-lock ring, on my DL650. I also re-purposed some padding from a different camera bag, to put in the bottom for a little extra cushion. The fit is a bit tight, but I have carried a Pentax K5iiS w/35 Ltd Macro prime attached, plus 12-24/f4 and 50-135/f2.8 zooms. More often I just go minimalist with a more compact kit, using a 15mm, the 35, and 100/2.8 Macro. Never had a problem so far with any camera damage or malfunctions, despite a couple of minor tip-overs. The bag has both a sturdy carrying handle as well as a shoulder strap, and all i have to do is unlatch it and off I go. If I don't need the camera, and I'm only going into a restaurant or something and the bike's out of sight, I just quickly throw the whole bag into my Givi V-47 topcase. It comes with a well-designed double-cinch rain cover, but I will admit that once it's actually raining and the cover's on, it's a lot more trouble getting the camera out. (Although at that point taking photos is not as much a priority, YMMV!) The SWM City bag has a profile that fits a sloping tank, although there are other models / smaller sizes, to suit whatever your needs. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I'm also a pentax shooter, and found my K-30 and 20-40 Limited a great all-around and durable camera kit. I have a KP now and wouldn't hesitate to drop it in my tank bag with the 20-40 either.

    I kid you not.
    这是我的Wolfman Peak Tailbag(里面有六包)。

在这种情况下,包放到架子上,因为我有a duffel and it had somewhat smaller Fuji gear in it.

I've ridden with about three or four of the more well known motojournalist photographers,

(Lowepro)

I know if I crash there could be a problem, but the vibration on a bike is murder on camera gear. even with extra padding.

    我使用pentax Q7(当前型Q-S1)。

All of that kit, plus batteries, memory cards, a lens hood, and a charger fits in a bag that's 5"x9"x3". The camera has a smaller sensor, but the glass is very good, and I enjoy using it... and for long trips the space savings and relative inexpensiveness is a boon. Not that the system is cheap... but compared to a Canon or Nikon with the same general lens selection... it's a lot easier to deal with the thought of loss, damage, or theft. It helps that it stores down small enough that it doesn't LOOK like expensive camera gear either.

这也是mirrorless,甲型肝炎en't had a problem with it in the top box yet...

Yup! I've got two Q bodies, a Q7 body, a K-30, and a K-01 for digital. I also shoot film, and have an ME Super, an SF-10, and a ZX-50. Tons of lenses too... my favorite combo is the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 on my K-01. It weighs a ton, but it's a nice walk-around setup and that lens is as sharp as a whole bag of primes.

But if I'm going hiking where weight is a concern, or on a motorcycle trip where space is at a premium, I will pack the Q7 body and lenses instead.
