It is not the most glamourous of bikes but so far I have enjoyed its power and reliability. It definitely throws a lot of heat in the summer though. :eek1

This spring I may take it off the pavement a bit to try some gravel roads with it.

I went and looked at a 1982 Kawasaki GPZ550, w/ unitrak suspension, dual front disk and rear single disk.
The kid that was selling it was like IDK 22yo maybe. Anyway he had it listed for $1800. He had one semi-fuzy pic. It was 5 miles from my house so I went and looked at it today.
Before I go any further, let me say that I do have some experience with 80's Japanese motorcycles- seeing as I have owned something like 20 of them...

Hey all -

I've got some old seats that I need to refinish, and the seat covers themselves are easy to find - but where are you finding the foam?

I'm new to all of the seat refinishing, but I'm thinking of giving it a go. Why not. The stapler is $50, and with some foam and a new cover I can just jump right in.

Any sources? What do you all prefer to use?

Union Garage looks cool, but mostly focused on selling expensive riding gear, although it looks like they have a few really nice vintage bikes on display.

Anything with a bar or coffee shop attached gets extra attention!

So, i think I need a limited on my Le Mans, missing shifts a couple of times scares me. It sounds horrible when the needle shoots to 9000rpm.

Dynatek makes a DRL300 for inductive igniting and a DRL300CDI for magneto or CDI ignition.

I’m running a Motovitt DLC ignition.
Can anyone tell me which one of the limiters af the right one for me? And maybe tell me about inductive and a CDI ignitions.

I am posting here, rather than at garage, because I thought the Old's Cool crowd might have experience with this subject: caring for unsealed (non-o-ring, non x-ring, non any ring) roller chains. Specifically, what's the best lube for these types of chains? Gear oil? Bar and chain oil? Something else?

I have done a lot of searches on this subject and usually what I come up with are the same arguments for why the modern sealed chain is so much better. The care and lubes then described...

Yes, I know, this is a first world problem. I have managed to exceed storage space in my garage and have to park several of my old bikes outside in my driveway. Driveway is concrete. I have good covers on them and keep them locked up. I also know to keep the batteries charged on a regular basis. What else do you guys and gals do when you’re forced to keep bike stored outside?
